They
said that Tristan doused him in a well,
That
was unkind as you can plainly tell;
But
with that his reputation was sealed.
No coward Dagonet, though fool is he,
He is valiant, as we can clearly see.
He is armed with bright sword, and lance and shield.
Make haste Sir Dagonet and serve your King,
Chase the foe; on his helm let your sword ring.
The coward yields and quickly flees the field.
Cheer
for Sir Dagonet, that mighty man,
He
always does the very best he can.
Raise
the sword, beat the shield, the foe will yield.
Sir
Dagonet doth laugh, and dance and sing
All
for the pleasure of Arthur his king.
His bright sword and glad
humour are revealed.
