We don’t give out our home number. If the land line rings
95% of the time it’s a sales call, or some moocher trying to scam money out of
us. I answer “Bonjour! Comme se va?” If
they don’t speak French they are out of luck. Now I never answer in Spanish,
because they might speak Spanish [not that I really remember much Spanish from
our missions in Ecuador years ago].
I grew up in English speaking Canada where we were obligated
to learn French. What we learned was Parisian French, not Quebecois. That
created a problem when you went to French speaking Quebec or the French
Communities of New Brunswick. After four years of French in school I could
speak some Parisian French, but ordering French Fries in Quebec was beyond me.
How was I to know that French fries, or fried “pomme de terre” was actually “patate
frites”? In learning Spanish in Texas I wonder what the correlation what kind
of Spanish is spoken here? Probably not Castellano!
Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land and
befriend faithfulness.
Confía en Jehová y haz el bien; habitarás en la tierra y
te apacentarás de la verdad.
Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the
desires of your heart.
Deléitate asimismo en Jehová y él te concederá las
peticiones de tu corazón.
Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will
act.
Encomienda a Jehová tu camino, confía en él y él hará. [Psalm
37:3-5].
